10 Gift Ideas for Your Booktrovert

The Holiday season is fast approaching. Faster than I’d like, and let’s be honest, probably faster than you’d like as well.

As much as the season fills me with anxiety and stress about family gatherings and worrying about an ever growing schedule, it’s also a wistful time to contemplate gift ideas. And as we’re all a bunch of nerds here, mostly of the bookish sort, I thought I’d put together a list of great ideas for your bookish friend(s)!

…And for me, I mean, I am a booktrovert too 😉

For transparency, I will receive a small commission with no extra cost to you, if you make a purchase with one of my links below ☺️

10. Faux Fur Blanket

One thing most bookish people love, are fluffy things. And that’s why this Give us a blanket that feels like the wolf we just read about, or that bed covered in furs our protagonist was just tossed upon to be ravished!

It’s cold outside (for the most part) and we love to feel cozy. We will burrito ourselves on the couch and you’ll have to coax us out with food, wine or a new book. And if you really want to immobilize us for a bit, get a heated or weighted blanket. Most likely you’ll have to wake us up from our designated cozy spot. And if it’s heated/weighted and plush?? Ooh boy, just take the win.

Because honestly, who ever says they were disappointed to get a new blanket?

Yeah, no one. Ever.

9. Candles

Have you ever been to a mall with Bath & Body Works? Or any home craft store that carries them? The candle isle is always a madhouse. And for good reason. We love things that smell good! Who doesn’t? During the fall & holiday season I really go for baked goods & coffee themed candles.

Now, set me up with that faux blanket and a nice smelling candle? I’ll be set for hours!

My all time favorite candles though? Definitely And if candles aren’t your thing, there are faux candles that run on batteries that will imitate that vibe, or maybe your booktrovert likes incense? I’ve never dabbled myself, as all my cats would most assuredly spill something, but give them a smelly good to sit near them while they cozy up!

8. A Bougie Drink

Be it coffee, tea, wine, or anything else, having something to sip on while we read is a must. It can up that cozy factor, or make us feel fancy, and there is nothing wrong with a little self love like that.

Our drink choices can change during the course of the year, so definitely confer with your booktrovert to see where their tastes are during the season.

Are they after some spiced cider? A new tea brand they’ve been wanting to try? Or surprise them with some freshly ground coffee from your local coffee shop!

Trust me, a drink will always be appreciated. Because it is one of those things where it’s smaller, and we sometimes forget to even grab it for ourselves in the chaos of the holiday season. So if you provide us with that comfort, it will definitely earn some points.

7. Book Sleeves & Annotation Accessories

Bookish accessories are always in demand for your booktrovert. We love a specially picked out bookmark, or a protective sleeve/cover for our book or e-reader. And if you have an annotator (Ashley if you’re reading this stop now and go to #6 😝), who loves to make notes and highlight lines, you can add tabs and highlighters to this category.

Some of my favorite bookish items fall into this category as I am one of those people who makes notes, highlight, and (gasp) even draw in their books as they read.

Like these I’m also a huge fan of these Now, there are a lot more book sleeves out there than when I first got one, but I still love my 6. Pillows

One word. Pillows.

Because sometimes, that lap is just too low, and the arm of the chair is just a smidge too high. A fun pillow to prop up our book on while we read would be a great gift. Even better if it has pockets!!

Right now I have several throw pillows that I use for this purpose, but I’ve been eyeing this Book Pillow as it serves reading physical books and can easily hold an e-reader.

5. Totes

Yes, we could probably put that book in our purse or bag, if we have that protective sleeve. But let’s be honest, when something goes in the purse/bag, there are a number of things that could happen to it. We know they’re black holes.

A designated book bag though? Yes please!

It not only says to the world that we’re bookish and we love it, but that we love this “hobby” so much we truly cannot go anywhere without them.

I’ve collected several from my local Barnes & Noble, but I’ve been eyeing this bookish tote because I not only love books and reading, but I also love cats and it’s so cute!!

4. Shelving

Shelving?

Yes, shelving.

One of the many plights of a book addict, is not having near the amount of shelves we need for said books. The room for them runs out quick. We start double parking our books on shelves, stacking them haphazardly on any available surface, and before long the book addiction is everyone’s problem.

So do us, and yourself a favor, and think about getting us a new bookshelf or book storage of some sort. And no, that never ever means the trash… I know someone was thinking it.

This can even be an I.O.U. coupon where you take us shopping for a new or used bookshelf or book cart.

Give us more safe places to put our precious trophies, and we will be very very grateful! And if it gets our books off of your side table, you’ll be grateful too.

3. Book Merch

If your booktrovert is part of a fandom, and by that I mean they’ve fallen in love so much with a book series or author’s work, that they want to be surrounded by it at all times, I would suggest some bookish merchandise.

They love Sarah J. Maas? Get them a Velaris sweater. If they’re a Tolkien fanatic, get them a Lord of the Rings Cookbook. The options are pretty much endless, especially if you peruse Etsy. Book sleeves, coffee cups/mugs, shirts, stickers, fuzzy socks, and even jewelry inspired their favorite reads and guaranteed to make your booktrovert incredibly happy.

Just be prepared, once you start down this particular rabbit hole you may become overwhelmed by the options!

2. E-Reader

This is a bigger ticket item, but if you have an avid reader and booktrovert, this may become a necessity.

If they’re into e-readers. Some may be physical book only readers, so plan accordingly.

Sometimes the shelves get to looking mighty full. And though we can read on our phones, they’re also full of notifications and distractions. Which is why some of us love our e-readers. It’s just for reading.

I knew I wanted to try an e-reader a while back. Even in the softer light modes, my iPad & phone just hurt my eyes. And again, the notifications and pop-ups. I would get an alert and suddenly I was scrolling through social media for a half hour if not longer. It was sad to say the least.

My bestie got me a Kindle Paperwhite for my birthday and what a game changer! I will read for hours without issue. It connects to my Goodreads account, and I can highlight and take notes on it. I’ve completely fallen in love.

So if your person is even mildly interested in an e-reader, they will not be disappointed.

1. Books

I bet you didn’t see this one coming! Just kidding, I know you did.

Obviously, the most ultimate and guaranteed happy gift for your booktrovert, are books.

Sometimes we actually hold back from getting books, for whatever reason. So having a loved one get us that missing piece to our collection, or gifting us their favorite read so we can share an experience, is the absolute best feeling!

And if you’re unsure as to what that may be – don’t worry, we’re often unsure ourselves – the gift of Gift Cards will let us acquire any book our heart desires!

Wrap Up

I hope this list has given you some ideas as to what to get your booktrovert or any and all bookish people in your life! There are quite a few more ideas I could’ve come up with, but I needed to keep it to 10 or else I wouldn’t be able to stop.

Just remember, the answer is always books. It’s up to you to determine in what fashion 😉
